A fire broke out at one of the largest logistics complexes operated by Wildberries in the village of Aleksandrovka, Voronezh region, on the night of August 11. The facility, which spans approximately 152,900 square meters, was reportedly attacked amidst escalating drone threats targeting the company’s infrastructure.
Impact on Wildberries’ Operational Capacity and Financials
The Aleksandrovka logistics center, fully operational only since November 2025, was capable of storing over 90 million product items. According to the Voronezh Region Investment Agency, the facility's construction involved an investment of about 11 billion rubles by Wildberries’ parent group, RVC (Russ's VGB). The fire led to the evacuation of the site following stringent safety protocols.
Since mid-July, Wildberries’ logistics network has been a recurrent target of drone attacks, primarily attributed to Ukrainian forces. Satellite imagery analyses by Reuters suggest that approximately 20% of Wildberries’ total warehouse capacity has been compromised due to these incidents.
“More than 20 logistics centers across key cities including Saint Petersburg, Tula, Elektrostal, Krasnodar, and Nevinnomyssk have been targeted, with at least 14 centers destroyed by fire,” industry sources report.
The cumulative effect of these attacks and resulting fires has inflicted substantial direct financial damage estimated between 100 and 200 billion rubles. Beyond physical losses, Wildberries has experienced a significant contraction in turnover, declining by roughly 25% as many sellers were forced to exit the marketplace after losing inventory and operational capacity.
Governance officials in Voronezh have responded by declaring an emergency alert due to ongoing drone threats, reflecting the heightened security concerns surrounding logistics infrastructures pivotal to Russia’s largest online retailer.
Wildberries’ management has not disclosed detailed financial guidance or contingency plans publicly, but the scale of losses raises critical questions about the resilience of its supply chain and the broader implications for investor confidence amidst escalating geopolitical risks.
