On July 19, the Russian military conducted targeted strikes using guided aerial bombs on the Ukrainian cities of Zaporizhzhia and Sumy. These attacks caused civilian casualties and significant damage to residential and industrial infrastructure.
Impact on Civilian Infrastructure and Casualties
In Zaporizhzhia, the strike hit a residential area, fully destroying two floors of a five-story apartment building and damaging windows and balconies of a nine-story building. Additionally, a logistics operator's terminal caught fire during the attack. According to the latest reports, at least two civilians lost their lives, and over 42 residents were injured, including eight children.
"Two floors of a five-story residential building were completely destroyed, and a logistics terminal was set ablaze," stated local administration officials.
Earlier the same day, Sumy was also targeted by Russian forces with guided bombs. The strikes hit civilian infrastructure within the city, resulting in one confirmed fatality and injuries to at least three others.
Preliminary assessments indicate that seven guided aerial bombs were deployed in Sumy's Kovpakivskyi district, impacting both residential and industrial zones.
