Wildberries Logistics Facilities in Russia and Crimea Hit by Attacks Impacting Operations

Wildberries, Russia’s largest online marketplace, experienced significant disruptions following attacks on its logistics facilities in the Leningrad region near St. Petersburg, Tver, and the annexed Crimean city of Simferopol. These events, reported on the night of July 23 to 24, resulted in fires at multiple warehouses, forcing temporary halts in operations at key distribution centers.
Impact on Wildberries’ Logistics Network and Operations
According to open-source intelligence analyses and eyewitness reports shared via Telegram channels, one of the targeted facilities is located in the village of Novosaratovka, Vsevolozhsky District, just outside the administrative boundaries of St. Petersburg. This warehouse serves the city and surrounding areas, making its closure a critical blow to Wildberries’ Northern Russia fulfillment capabilities.
“The logistics complexes in Shushary and Utkina Zavod, both within St. Petersburg, have temporarily suspended operations. Further updates on resuming activities will be provided,” the company’s press service announced early on July 24.
Additional strikes reportedly affected logistics hubs in Tver and Simferopol, resulting in fires and the evacuation of a sorting center in the Crimean city. These disruptions exacerbate existing challenges in Wildberries’ extensive supply chain, which already faced prior attacks targeting its infrastructure in other Russian regions.
Furthermore, unverified reports emerged of a strike on an electrical substation in Sudak, Crimea, leading to power outages and disruptions in water supply across multiple districts. However, these claims remain unconfirmed by independent sources.
Financial and Strategic Consequences for Wildberries
The recent attacks compound significant operational risks for Wildberries, coming on the heels of earlier Ukrainian strikes that damaged or destroyed warehouses in key logistics centers, including Elektrostal near Moscow (250,000 sq. m), Kotovsk in Tambov Oblast (108,000 sq. m), Krasnodar (100,000 sq. m), and Nevinnomyssk in Stavropol Krai (94,000 sq. m).
As of late July, Ukrainian attacks have reportedly impacted approximately 10% of Wildberries’ total logistics infrastructure, equating to over 550,000 square meters of warehouse space. This scale of disruption threatens supply chain continuity and could exert downward pressure on the company’s revenue growth and operational margins if sustained.
The attacks also have resulted in human casualties, with at least eight fatalities and around fifty injuries reported in the July 18 attacks on facilities in Kotovsk and Elektrostal. In a statement, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky justified the strikes as responses to Russian attacks on Ukrainian civilian infrastructure, alleging that Wildberries’ logistics centers were used to supply sanctioned components for drone production and navigation equipment.
Wildberries has not publicly disclosed the financial impact of these incidents yet, but the temporary shutdown of major warehouses servicing critical regions is likely to increase operating costs and disrupt delivery timelines, potentially affecting customer satisfaction and investor confidence.
Local officials, including the governors of Leningrad Oblast and St. Petersburg, as well as regional authorities in Tver and Simferopol, have not issued comments regarding the attacks as of the time of reporting.
