Following the European ban on Russia Today's broadcasting, Ksenia Fedorova, the former head of RT France, has secured a position at the conservative French television channel CNews. This move highlights her ongoing media presence and offers insights into the shifting landscape of media personnel in post-Russia Today Europe.

Transition Amid Regulatory Changes

Russia Today, a state-funded Russian news outlet often criticized for its pro-Kremlin editorial stance, saw its European broadcasts prohibited amid geopolitical tensions. Despite this, Fedorova, who held residency in France, remained in the country and transitioned her career to CNews, a right-leaning channel known for its conservative programming.

At CNews, Fedorova hosts the program Lumières orthodoxes ("Orthodox Lights"), focusing on European Orthodox churches and faith-related topics. Additionally, she contributes commentary on international affairs through the radio program L'Heure Inter on Europe 1.

"Fedorova maintains her pro-Kremlin perspective, attributing the conflict in Ukraine to NATO's eastward expansion and criticizing the West for prolonging hostilities and failed negotiations."

Her editorial angle remains consistent with her previous work at RT France, expressing viewpoints aligned with Kremlin narratives. For instance, in May, she cited NATO’s enlargement as a root cause of Russia’s war against Ukraine and accused Western powers of exacerbating and prolonging the conflict.

Strategic Media Alignments

Reports indicate that Fedorova's move to CNews and employment alongside other former RT France staff may be linked to her connections with Vincent Bolloré, the channel's owner. Bolloré has been known for his financial and political ties, including long-standing support of Marine Le Pen, leader of the far-right National Rally party.

This intersection of media ownership, political affiliations, and journalistic staffing underscored by Fedorova’s transition presents a notable example of how geopolitical events influence media markets and talent movement within Europe.

For investors and analysts monitoring media sector dynamics, these developments suggest potential shifts in audience targeting and content strategy at conservative media outlets, reinforcing targeted narratives amid a realigned European media environment.
