Palm Beach International Airport to Be Renamed After President Donald Trump
The Florida airport will adopt the new IATA code DJT starting July 9, reflecting its renaming in honor of the sitting US president.

The Palm Beach International Airport in Florida will officially be renamed in honor of the current President of the United States, Donald Trump, effective July 9. Along with the renaming, the airport's three-letter IATA code will change from PBI to DJT, mirroring the president's initials.
Strategic Rebranding and Symbolic Moves
The decision to rename the airport is a significant symbolic gesture given the location’s proximity to Mar-a-Lago, President Trump's Florida residence and a known venue for high-profile international meetings. The United States Secretary of Transportation, Sean Duffy, announced the update, highlighting the airport’s new global identification through the International Air Transport Association (IATA), which manages worldwide airport codes.
This move aligns with several recent initiatives to honor President Trump’s legacy in various governmental and cultural institutions. Notably, the U.S. State Department recently renamed the U.S. Institute of Peace after Trump. Similarly, Washington’s John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts has been renamed the Donald J. Trump and John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts.
“The new airport code, DJT, will serve as a lasting tribute to the president’s influence and ties to the region,” said Secretary Duffy.
Additionally, commemorative efforts extend beyond naming rights. Plans unveiled include commissioning two new naval vessels dubbed the "Trump" class for the U.S. Navy. Furthermore, in a milestone aligned with the forthcoming 250th anniversary of American independence, a series of passports featuring President Trump’s portrait and signature in gold lettering are set to be issued. The president’s signature will also adorn the redesigned $100 bills.
The Commission of Fine Arts has authorized the release of a 24-karat gold coin emblazoned with Trump’s likeness and the inscription "Liberty" to mark the independence anniversary. These moves collectively underscore the administration’s efforts to reinforce the president’s symbolic presence across multiple facets of American public life.
The renaming of the airport and the associated branding and commemorative activities are expected to have broader implications for investor perceptions and regional economic branding, potentially influencing tourism and commerce in Palm Beach and the surrounding areas.
