Trump Announces Plans to Destroy Iran’s Enriched Uranium Stocks Either in US or On-Site
Former US President Trump states Iran’s enriched uranium will be destroyed under IAEA supervision either in the US or at its current location.

Former US President Donald Trump declared on his social media platform Truth Social that Iran’s stockpile of enriched uranium will either be transported to the United States for destruction or dismantled on-site under the oversight of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Trump’s Position on Iran’s Uranium Stockpiles
Trump’s statement, made on Monday, May 25, outlined two possible approaches to eliminating Iran’s enriched uranium reserves: immediate transfer to the US for destruction or on-site destruction in Iran or another suitable location coordinated with Iranian authorities and monitored by the IAEA.
He emphasized that destroying the uranium within Iran without the need for transportation to the US is the preferred option. Trump referred to the enriched uranium as "nuclear dust," alluding to the US’s prior military actions against Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
"The enriched uranium stockpiles in the Islamic Republic will either be immediately transferred to the United States for destruction or destroyed where they are, under IAEA supervision," Trump wrote.
Financial and Strategic Implications for Investors
The threat posed by Iran’s nuclear program has been cited by Trump as a justification for the ongoing conflict involving the US and Israel against Iran since February 28. Intelligence estimates indicate that Iran currently holds over 440 kilograms of uranium enriched to 60%, far exceeding levels necessary for civilian nuclear energy purposes.
From a financial perspective, these developments heighten geopolitical risks that could impact global energy markets and defense sector stocks. The enriched uranium theoretically can be further processed to 90%, making it suitable for nuclear weapons, a concern for international security and investor confidence.
Iran has consistently denied any intention to develop nuclear weapons, maintaining its nuclear program is peaceful. However, Tehran has warned it may increase uranium enrichment levels if subjected to further attacks, adding volatility to the region’s stability and influencing investor risk assessments.
As of now, Iran has not officially confirmed any agreements related to the transfer of its enriched uranium stocks to the US or other countries.
